About the drawing

Hi everyone, my name is Anthony and I'm raising money for the Lebanese Red Cross (LRC) and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). I originally did this drawing in August 2020 in response to the horrific explosion in Beirut on August 4th.

For those who don't know me, I've grew up visiting family in Beirut often. It is a beautiful city filled with rich history and remarkably kind and resilient people.

I've done city drawings before (my last big one was of Tokyo) but always just for fun. After seeing the devastation in 2020 across Beirut, a city I know and love, I thought maybe I could help by raising money through another drawing.

The drawing itself is freehand and took about 3 weeks and 5 felt-tip pens to complete. It's based on the views from the plane as you land at Beirut airport. In the foreground is l'Avenue des Français and down the water below the Corniche are the big Raouché Rocks. The port itself, which was almost entirely damaged in August 202's explosion, is just beyond the top edge of the drawing, near the centre.

In 2020 I was able to raise over $500 USD from sales of prints of the drawing. All this money was donated - thank you for your support!

Now in 2024 I'm doing another round of fundraising to continue supporting the LRC and MSF's work supporting vital health and disaster response services in Lebanon.
